Summer 2002

This will be my third and final introduction to News & Clues. My wife and I are moving to the other side of the Sierra Nevada mountains to pursue adventure, writing, and whatever fortune flings at me. While I will be sad to leave my position with the San Joaquin Valley Information Service and the editing of this newsletter, I’m certain that I leave my responsibilities in good hands. Since the publication of the spring issue of News & Clues, two staff members have joined our already talented team of library professionals. Gail Lucas is now the reference coordinator for SJVIS and Richard Mann has left his native New York to become the newest librarian at SJVIS.

While this will be the last issue of News & Clues that I will oversee, I also hope that it will be the easiest to read and the most user-friendly version of the newsletter so far. I have redesigned the look of the newsletter to reflect its new address within the Heartland libraries domain. In addition to the new look, the pesky complication of frames has been replaced with what I hope is a simpler and more accessible web page. A new table of contents page has also been created to help you find specific information in the newsletter.

Please let the future editor and or webmaster know what you think of this newsletter and what can be done to improve it. As always, your comments and submissions are greatly appreciated. In the meantime, please read the news page and become acquainted with our newest staff. If you haven’t yet found an opportunity to introduce yourself, please pay our offices a visit and make them feel welcome.
